The networking event made me feel good in that these people who were presenting were once in our position having a guest speaker speak to them about their careers and advice, and that any question asked was answered and my questions I was going to asked were asked by someone else and that an appropriate and in-depth answer was given and led me to re-think ways on how to improve myself going to my graduate career.
What did you learn in relation to your future graduate career?
What I learnt from the professional event is the importance of networking. With myself having a business majoring in property degree, and valuations is the future career I want to have is that it is never too early to start. Networking is about sharing ideas, creating opportunities, exchanging information and developing social and/or professional contacts. To start this now or post-graduation would be ideal for myself being that I need to identify myself to other people who need valuations done for themselves.
What connections can you make to the weekly readings you have learned so far?
In week 3, we looked the module 3 which is self-awareness and reflection. In this module, Lang tt McNaught (2013) expresses that through reflective writing, students can take note on what skills and knowledge they have developed and putting those skills into practice. This has allowed me to reflect in my own self-awareness in the sense to see where I can improve as a potential employee in my future career, the room for improvement and meeting the requirements and objectives of my employer.
