This will assist you to more effectively communicating the knowledge, skills and attributes you have acquired during your time at Griffith UniversityFor those already working, the process of consolidating and neatly packaging your core competencies and professional identity allows you to communicate and be more conscious of your key knowledge, skills and attributes. This experience and subsequent narrative can be extremely useful in career progression. Enhances the appearance of your professional portfolio and LinkedIn profileProvides you with a ‘point of difference’ against other prospective candidatesThe process will also enable you to reflect upon and analyse your strengths and weaknesses and may assist you in identifying areas that need greater focus Instructions: Once the written component of your professional identity and development is complete you will then have much of the necessary content you require to produce the ‘Remarkable Me’ video. The one-minute video presentation should feature the following structure: Front of video: What is your name and what degree and major/s are you studying?What kind of career are you wanting to pursue and what makes you passionate about this career? Content: Here you will outline the key points that make you remarkable. This is best done through highlighting the main strengths and competencies you have developed. Think about successes you have achieved in your university studies and/or involvement with extra-curricular, sporting, volunteering, community service, prior work, study abroad, internships, etc. Consider what content would be most meaningful and appropriate for your audience. You should frame your experiences and skills by using up to three of the most relevant Griffith Graduate Attributes. To assist you in methodically structuring your responses you should use the STAR interview response technique. Students should include relevant quotes (from testimonials/references), images and/or video cut-outs to evidence acquired competencies What was the situation? (i.e. set the scene and describe the context, event or situation)What was your task? (i.e. focus on outlining your involvement, responsibility or the role you were tasked with)What action did you take? (i.e. focus on highlighting the actions you took to complete the task)What was the positive result from the action taken? (i.e. what you learnt, what was accomplished or achieved Example 1: Let’s assume that one of the three Griffith Attributes you chose was point ‘4. Socially responsible and engaged in their communities’. You might say something about how during your time with the Griffith Business School Leadership program you went to Borneo and assist in building houses for remote and disadvantaged communities. You role was X and Y and this meant that you were involved with performing X and Y function. The result of your involvement meant that X, Y and Z happened. In this example you might include a photo of your time in Borneo within the video to evidence your contribution. Example 2: Let’s assume that one of the three Griffith Attributes you chose was point ‘1. Knowledgeable and skilled, with critical judment. You might say something about how during your time with the Griffith Business School you had to undertake an industry research report which required you to do X and Y. Yout role was X and Y and this meant that you were involved with performing X and Y function. The result of your involvement meant that X, Y and Z happened and that you learnt X and Y. In this example you might include a screen shot of your cover page of the report within the video to evidence your contribution. End of video: You want to finish strongly and leave a memorable impression so be sure to seize this opportunity by explaining why you would be the ideal candidate. Be very clear about what you have to offer and why employing you would be important.Here you will also need to consider the ‘call to action’, that is, how can employers find you?
