MITS Advanced Research TechniquesResearch Question and AbstractCandidate:Sandeep ShresthaStudent ID No: 46943Higher Education DepartmentVictorian Institute of TechnologyResearch Question:Based on the topic, the following research question is to be addressed:1. What is the importance and relevance of predictive analytics solutions in SupplyChain Management?2. How can Predictive Analytics technologies be used in different areas of supplychain management such as resource allocation, inventory management, information sharing, transportation and route planning as well as in predictingenvironmental uncertainties?3. What are the positive and negative impact of using predictive analytics in supplychain management?AbstractThe main purpose of this paper is to develop a theoretical model explaining the impact ofpredictive analytics and big data on supply chain management outcomes in organizations.Evidence from different data sources is to be evaluated in this study using theoretical modelssuch as contingency theory and resource-based view logic. Literature review including a widerange of previous studies is to be performed in this research for deriving existing concepts andidentifying areas of implementation for predictive analytics in this industry. Predictive analyticssolutions are quite frequently used in the modern supply chain management processes indecision-making activities, allocation and organization of resources and future prediction oforganizational outcomes. Many alternative areas of implementation have also been identified inprevious studies that are to be explored in this research. This paper further identifies thefundamental research questions that need to be addressed in the actual research work related tothe topic of “predictive analytics application and big data in supply chain managementprocesses”. Different individual areas such as inventory management, organizationalperformance measurements, information sharing and planning as well as economic orenvironmental predictions are to be considered in this study that can provide effective guidanceto supply chain managers, policymakers and practitioners. Sustainability factors in supply chainmanagement and their relatability with the use of predictive analytics techniques have also beenevaluated to some extent in this study. This paper attempts to make some original contributionsto establish the primary research background for further learning in this topic and it alsopresents evidence-based on previous findings that big data and predictive analytics are beingresearched extensively for supply chain implementations nowadays.
